The experience of Being a Teacher

I must start by saying that this has been my first chance of teaching in a classroom and for me it was a difficult process at the beginning now that I was afraid of the results or the reaction of the students to the way I will be teaching the language. Of course, in the first weeks I felt overwhelmed by this situation, I could easily get it over as I started to create a bound with my students however.

When planning the lesson I will be teaching during the course I considered several aspects before starting to design the procedures and materials.

The first aspect I considered important for the design of the lesson plan was the objectives I wanted the students to achieve at the end of the class and the things they will be able to do when concluding a class session. It was not only to decide the aims of the class but to attempt that most of the students would learn successfully.
The second aspect I took into account was the specific needs these students had; it means their current knowledge about the language, their proficiency level, their strengths, weaknesses, and lacks. Hence, I decided how I would teach the topics, the content, and the level of difficulty.

Another aspect into consideration was the allotted time to develop the class, and then I would choose which activities will be developed in each class.

The last aspect I considered was the availability of didactical sources; in this sense, it was interesting the use of technologies in the English class, such as OHTs, computers, and audio devices in order to engage even more the students in the activities proposed during the classes.

One of the problems I faced when developing the class I had prepare beforehand was that in some cases the activities I wanted to proposed did not take place due to circumstances such as the lack of time after explaining a topic and the loss of control over the students. It was always so disappointing and I felt it was one of the issues I have to improve the most for my subsequent experiences.

This was a grateful experience to me; it is so different to teach children from a public school to teach to private school children.  At the beginning, it was very difficult because I was not used to teach such a great number of students; also, many of them did not seem to be interested in learning.
Due to the fact I did not work with only one group, but two groups. I will dare to make a contrast.
First of all, I will talk about my 4th graders, the behavior was a complete disaster, students never paid attention, and they were always talking. Just a few of them were involved in the classes; also, the teacher always left me alone in the classroom, most of the time I could not control the class, and that made me feel frustrated.                                                                                                                                                                                      When I realized that the classes that I prepared for them do not work, I decided to change my methodology, but to do it, I had to analyze the kind of students that they are, taking into account that no one learn in the same way but we have many things in common.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          When the time passed, I understood that they love pictures and games so I included more of them in my lesson plans. They kept misbehaving but at least, they participated in classes
On the other hand, I have my students from 5th grade, who were like the perfect students. They were always paying attention, they never misbehave, they love my classes and my lesson plans always work. I did not have to make any change in my lesson plans because they really like the way that I teach, and the activities that I prepared for them.

In conclusion; sometimes, we think that we are not good at teaching, but it may not be completely truth. Now I understand the importance of observing. With observation we can know a little bit more about the students that we are going to work with, in this way we can plan our classes and make them success, taking into account the students’  abilities, level of English, and preferences.

My first experience as a teacher…. My experience as a primary school teacher at Camilo Lamadrid Fabra school was very interesting, significant and challenging because I had no experience on teaching also, I consider that I learnt as much from my little students as they learnt from me as I grow up as a person and as a professional. At the beginning of the practice, I felt really nervous and anxious as I did not have experience. In spite of I was previously informed about the situation of this group, which was considered very difficult to work with, I decided to take the risk. In some cases I felt frustrated about teaching at this course as was very difficult to deal due to, the physical environment was not appropriate so they got distracted very easy, there were many conflicts between the students and the most concerning aspect was the evident discipline problem that made me feel insecure about working as a teacher in the future. However, as time passed, I began to feel more comfortable and less nervous when teaching also; I learnt how to deal with children, to know what they prefer, how to catch their attention and to motivate them to participate actively. To achieve these goals, I had to reflect about my behavior, the strategies I used, and implement different kinds of methodologies and activities according to their needs and likes. REFLECTION

Being a teacher is an amazing but demanding job. It requires engagement with what you are doing. Some of the most important elements of being a teacher is to give good explanation of a topic, be flexible, to have knowledge in your subject, to be funny and to enjoy challenges.
So as a teacher in training, I have learned many things from this wonderful experience as practice I. During this time I have become convinced that teaching is my passion and I am very happy with the work I have performed despite the obstacles or limitations presented. I have analyzed this process in detail and I can conclude that it is only refers to love what we do, to have that spirit of change history and be part of a new society which we teach all that experience and knowledge we have acquired during our formation process.
I had the opportunity to teach children who actually were motivated to learn a new language different from our mother tongue we both have enjoyed this fabulous experience. I am very thanked to the teachers, students and workers from that institution. In fact, I feel that I became part of a beautiful family in which all the members learnt from the others one and this learning never ends.

I am aware of the work I have performed. I feel that I have performed it well but I am also aware of the difficulties or small mistakes I have made. And it has allowed me to correct them for new experiences. Because a good teacher is not the one who is rude, a good teacher is the one who gives opportunities to the student in order that he or she rally learn what is taught. .

MY EXPERIENCE AS AN ENGLISH TEACHER

REFLECTION

Being sincere, when I started my process of teaching english in primary school, I had some misconceptions about all the things that teaching English to children involved, I thought that I was not going to be able to deal with those students who just keep in their minds to play  with others and misbehave as soon as they have the chance to do it. Maybe I thought that kind of things and more, due to I had not had the opportunity to live this experience with people who are starting to know what the word education means for their life.
My pedagogical practices took place at Institucion Educativa Nacional Jose Maria Cordoba Sede El Eden, teaching in 3°, 4°-1 and 4°-2; with a population of 31 students per group. I have to say that it was a challenging but not impossible experience for me, because of the lack of materials and the environmental conditions that this school has. Anyway, every single class I tried to do my best during the development of the classes. And something that I learnt is that students are not the only ones who learn, at the contrary we as a teacher, most of the times get things from them and we keep that information not only for ourselves, but also for them in order to improve our process and the techniques we use in the classroom.
at the moment of planning my classes, what I took into account was that at the beggining of each class I had to look for an activity in order to encourage childrens to be motivated and awake in classes, I think that this is an important factor, because we have to search for the things that are more related to the things children usually do and make them feel comfortable and active in the class. Also, I tried to bring them didactic materials in order to avoid boredom among them and  ensure the pace of my lesson is sucessful and something crucial that teachers cannot forget is the responsability we must have during all this process of teaching and the attention children deserve overall.
I did not become an expert in terms of teching, but at least today I can say that I found the way how to win new friends, how to interact with little angels without the necessity to make them change their essence but improving their human quality because of I put my two cents!.
As a personal opinion: It is amazing preparing people for the world, bieng a teacher is a passion not an obligation.
Finally, I have to say that this experience makes  me feel stronger and to know in a depth way my weaknesses and strenghts and I learnt to overcome my shortcomings.

Here my students are...
